Cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp has canceled plans to introduce a fee for inactive users starting from August 1. The company said in a blog post it decided to abandon plans after listening to its community’s response.

Bitstamp's scandalous fee plan would have charged all inactive users with account balances of less than €200. The exchange added:

"All our customers can continue to use and enjoy all our services regardless of the balance of your accounts and time passed from your previous activities. We apologize for the inconvenience this might have caused."

It remains unclear what was the reason for introducing such an ambiguous plan, nor how the exchange plans to find an alternative way to finance its business operations.
