Hackers have stolen around $3.3 million in cryptos from Ethereum users who generated their addresses through the Profanity tool.
The 1INCH Network team had previously warned about the vulnerability of the service.
Profanity allows users users to generate human-readable Ethereum addresses containing words, names or phrases. While the tool stopped working several years ago, the wallets created with it still work.
Last September 15, the 1inch Network team warned the community the keys to these addresses could be obtained by brute force. The service used a 32-bit vector to populate 256-bit private encryptors.
The developers then reported the vulnerability could allow asset theft.
